EAN-13 Barcode Structure

EAN-13 barcode image size can be influenced by:

Bar width (X): narrow bar width of EAN-13; X min = 1 pixel
Bar height (Y): bar height of EAN-13; default value is 60 pixels
Image Width: EAN-13 barcode width
Image Height: EAN-13 barcode width
Left/Right Margin : quiet zone in EAN-13

Generate EAN-13 with Fixed Bar Width and Height

KA.Barcode Addin For Microsoft Excel allows users to easily set EAN-13 barcode width & height. Default value is 1 pixel for bar width and 60 pixels for bar height.

1.
Set the value "Bar width (X)" to "2" and "Bar Height (Y)" to "60" in the property panel
2.
Click "OK", then an EAN-13 barcode image occurs in the Excel spreadsheet

Adjust EAN-13 Supplement Bar Space and Bar Height

If users want to encode more information into a EAN-13 barcode like price, date, etc, you can simply refer to an EAN-13 with a two-digit or five-digit addon symbol. To control the size, you can adjust the space & bar height of the addon symbol.

1.
Select "EAN 13+2" for the barcode type
2.
Input 7 numeric digits in the "data" and 2 digits in the "Supplement data"
3.
Set "Supplement bar height" to 0.8 and "Supplement bar space" to 15 pixels
4.
Click "Generate" and an EAN-13+2 image is output

Print an EAN-13 with Fixed Image Width & Height

When space is the concern, users might want to create an EAN-13 barcode image with a fixed size. This is easily achieved by setting "Image width" and "Image height". Here is the sample procedure.

Set "Image width" to 150 pixels and "Image height" to 70 pixels
