If the Silverlight application already exists, then you must first add it to the ASP.NET Web application project. Right-click on the Solution in the Solution Explorer pane and choose Add Existing Project from the pop-up menu. Then navigate to the Silverlight application project and add it to the ASP.NET Web application project. After the Silverlight application is added to the solution, right-click on ASP.NET Web Application in the Solution Explorer pane in Visual Studio and select Add New Item from the drop-down menu. Then select Silverlight Application from the available templates, specify the project name, and click Add to display the Add Silverlight Application dialog box, as shown in Figure 10.6. The Create a new Silverlight project and add it to the solution option will be set. Change this option to the Use an existing Silverlight project in the solution as shown in Figure 10.7. Select the project from the Project drop-down list.

The Silverlight application project needs to contain a Web reference to the WebService in order for the Silverlight code to be able to implement a WebMethod exposed by the service. To add a Web reference to a Silverlight application, right-click on the Silverlight application project in the Solution Explorer pane of Visual Studio and select Add Service Reference from the pop-up menu to display the Add Service Reference, as window shown in Figure 10.8. Click Discover to discover Web services and then select the WebService from the Services list shown in Figure 10.8. Specify a Namespace that is used to access the WebService from the Silverlight application. The namespace that you specify is used in the managed code of the Silverlight application to access the Web service. After you specify a namespace, click OK to add the service reference.

When you add a service reference to a Web service, Visual Studio wires up the WebService to the Silverlight application, and you can access the WebMethod as a SOAP client from your managed code.

If you make changes to your Web service, it is a good idea to update the service reference in the Silverlight application project in case any of the changes break code there. To update the service reference, right-click on the Web reference in the Solution Explorer and select Update Service Reference from the pop-up menu. Visual Studio updates the reference with any changes that have been made in WebService.

Using the service reference created in the previous section, you are able to access the WebService from the managed code in your Silverlight application as a SOAP client. Using a SOAP client, managed code is able to access the WebMethod functionality exposed by the WebService.

The first step in providing access to the WebService in your managed code is to include a reference to the namespace specified when creating the service reference. For example, consider a

Silverlight application implemented in C# using the namespace SilverlightImageShow. If the namespace of the Web reference is imageServiceReference, then you add the following using statement to the managed code to provide access to the WebService:
Control barcode data matrix image on java
generate, create data matrix ecc200 none in java projects
using SilverlightImageShow.imageServiceReference;
Get gtin - 13 in vb
using barcode generation for .net control to generate, create ean13 image in .net applications.

Using the Web service reference, you can create a SOAP client. The service reference exposes a class named after the WebService with SoapClient appended onto it. You use this class to create an image reference. For example, if the WebService is named imageService, then the following line of code creates a SOAP client that can connect to the WebService:
imageServiceSoapClient client = new imageServiceSoapClient();
