Norman W. Paton is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, where he co-leads the Information Management Group. He obtained a BSc in Computing Science from Aberdeen University in 1986, and a PhD from the same institution in 1989. From 1989 to 1996, he worked as a lecturer at Heriot-Watt University. His research interests have mainly related to object databases, including work on deductive, active and spatial facilities, and user interfaces to data intensive systems.
