473 Explicit Call Transfer An example of explicit call transfer (ECT) is depicted in Figure 474 ECT is speci ed in GSM TS 0291 [22] and GSM TS 0391 [47] A subscriber may invoke ECT when she has two calls established: one call active and one call suspended Invocation of ECT has the effect that (1) the active party and the suspended party are connected in speech and (2) the subscriber who had invoked the ECT is disconnected from the call MMI commands for invoking ECT are described in GSM TS 0230 [5] When the execution of ECT is complete, the call party that had invoked ECT may establish or receive another call The individual calls in the ECT connection may be incoming or outgoing In the example case in Figure 474, both calls are outgoing subject to CAMEL control The CAMEL services are independent service instances Although the two CAMEL services are invoked with the same O-CSI for this subscriber, the services may reside in different SCPs, as a result of dynamic load sharing (see 2) The CAMEL services that are involved in this call do not receive an indication about the ECT invocation The MAP noti cation that results from SS-CSI in the subscriber s VLR pro le is not meant for call control purposes and may be sent to a different node than the call control SCP When the A-party has a subscription to ECT supplementary service, the service logic shall take care with applying user interaction at the end of the call or with applying a pre-paid warning tone When ECT was invoked for the call, the warning tone or announcement will be heard by the other connected call party, not by the served CAMEL subscriber When one of the two parties disconnects from the call, this is reported as Disconnect[leg2] for the CAMEL service for that call and subsequently as Disconnect[leg1] for the other CAMEL service

Ideally, CAP would contain a service noti cation, to inform the respective CAMEL services that ECT is invoked for this call Such functionality, in the form of a designated detection point in the BCSM, was proposed for CAMEL phase 4, but was eventually not included in the standard 474 Call Waiting Call Waiting (CW) and Call Hold (CH) are speci ed in GSM TS 0283 [15] and GSM TS 0383 [41] There is no direct interaction with the CW supplementary service When a called subscriber is busy, then the VLR may still allocate an MSRN (for the second call to the called subscriber) when MAP PRN is received for that subscriber A CAMEL service that is controlling the second incoming call at the GMSC, does not know that the call is offered as a waiting call (Figure 475) The second call may be accepted or rejected by the called subscriber or the no reply condition may occur If the called subscriber has call forwarding active, then the rejected or timed-out waiting-call may lead to call forwarding, possibly in combination with optimal routing 475 Call Hold A subscriber who is engaged in a speech call may place the active call party on hold and establish a second call or accept an incoming call In the latter case, CH is used in combination with CW (Figure 476) The active call in which the A-party is involved may be an incoming call or an outgoing call In either case, a CAMEL service may be controlling the active call In the example in Figure 476, A-party has an active call to B-party and receives a call from C-party The invocation of Call Hold for the active call is not indicated to the CAMEL service for that call Hence, the period during which the call is suspended is not taken cognizance of with respect to on-line charging of the call This applies to both the call duration reported in the CAP ACR and the call duration reported in CAP CIRp Although the invocation of the call hold service may be recorded in an Event Record, the suspended duration is not re ected in the CDR for the call Refer to GSM TS 1205 [57]: The use of the call hold service shall be recorded either in-line in the appropriate call record or in a separate supplementary service invocation record as described above For the avoidance of doubt, the duration for which the call is held, ie is inactive, is not recorded If the CAMEL pre-paid warning tone is played during suspended state, then the served subscriber will not hear the warning tone As was suggested for ECT, CAMEL would have bene ted from a noti cation at invocation of call hold
