EAN-8 Introduction
EAN-8 is a self-checking, continuous symbology which is a shortened version of the EAN-13 barcode. Its data length is fixed: 7 characters, excluding a checksum digit. Additionally, EAN-8 is created for the purpose of using as little space as possible and it is widely used on small packages where an EAN-13 barcode would be too large.

How to Install EAN-8 Barcode Add-In for Visio

    Close all Visio documents to prepare installation
  2. 2.
    Download KA.Barcode Add-In for Visio and unzip it
  3. 3.
    Double click the setup file "setup.exe" to install this add-in
  4. 4.
    Open a new Visio document on your computer
  5. 5.
    Click "Install" in a window that pops up on the Visio document
  6. 6.
    Now the installation of this barcode add-in is done
How to Generate an EAN-8 Barcode in Visio

    Create a new diagram in Microsoft Visio first
  2. 2.
    Turn to the add-in tab in the Visio document and click it
  3. 3.
    A barcode setting panel appears on the right
  4. 4.
    Select the "EAN-8" in the "barcode type" pull-down menu
  5. 5.
    Input data for the EAN-8 barcode into the text box of "Data"
  6. 6.
    If you want to revise the EAN-8 properties, just input the value in the property box

    Click "update" and a EAN-8 barcode image is created successfully
