UPC-A Barcode Add-In for Excel enables users to encode and generate UPC-A, UPC-A +2, UPC-A +5 images in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. This page provides detailed tutorial for users to encode valid data in UPCA barcodes in Microsoft Excel.
UPC-A Information
UPC-A, is also named as Universal Product Code version A, UPC-A+2, UPC-A Supplement 2 (Two-digit Add-On), UPC-A+5, UPC-A Supplement 5 (Five-digit Add-On), UPC Bar Code, UPC Symbol, GTIN-12, GS1-12.

UPC-A Valid Data:

  • Numeric digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

UPC-A Valid Length:

  • UPC-A barcode can encode 12 digits, including the last checksum digit.

Install UPC-A Barcode Add-In for Excel

    Download KA.Barcode for Excel and unzip.
  2. 2.
    Click KeepAutomation.Barcode.Excel.2007.Addin.msi to install.
  3. 3.
    Open an Excel document and click "install" in the pop-up "Microsoft Office Customization Installer" window
  4. 4.
    Now you will see KA.Barcode Add-In in the Excel menu bar add-in tab.

    Switch to KA.Barcode Add-In tab, click the button, and a property panel appears on the right side.

UPC-A Numeric Data

UPC-A can encode 12 numeric digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Users can simply input the 11 digits, as the last checksum digit will be automatically calculated and added according to the algorithm in the GS1 standard.
  1. 1.
    In the barcode type pull down menu, select UPC A.
  2. 2.
    Input numeric data, for example, "22446688001", into textbox.
  3. 3.
    Adjust other settings like size if necessary.
  4. 4.
    Click Generate button and an UPC-A image is created.

UPC-A+2 Numeric Data

Users can also add a two-digit supplement symbol for an UPC-A barcode to encode extra information. In this case you need to input not only the11-digit primary data, but also the supplement data.

    In the barcode type pull down menu, select UPC A +2.
  2. 2.
    Input numeric data, for example, "22446688001", into textbox.
  3. 3.
    In Linear Barcode tab, input 2-digit data in the UCC/EAN supplement data blanket.
  4. 4.
    Click Generate button and an UPC-A with a two-digit add-on image is created.

UPC-A+5 Numeric Data

If you want to create UPCA with a 5-digit add-on symbol, you need to input both the11-digit primary data and the supplement data.Please follow the steps for UPC-A+5 generation.

    In the barcode type pull down menu, select UPC A +5.
  2. 2.
    Input numeric data, for example, "22446688001", into textbox.
  3. 3.
    In Linear Barcode tab, input 5-digit data in the UCC/EAN supplement data blanket.

    Click Generate button and an UPC-A with a five-digit add-on image is created.
