FIGURE 17-46 Selecting the location of the backup To restore a backup from a network location, click the Advanced button It enables a network location to be speci ed to search for backups; it also includes an option to load additional drivers, which might then expose disks currently unreadable After the backup to restore is selected, you are presented with the advanced options, which give you the option to format and repartition disks to match those de ned in the backup This is desirable if you have inserted a new disk to restore to If your partitions are still intact and you just want to restore the system, leave the option unselected (see Figure 1747) If you check the option, click the Exclude disks button to prevent disks in the system from being repartitioned By default, the disk containing the backup being restored is automatically excluded If you boot from a recovery environment installed locally on the hard drive, the option to format and partition is not available Click the Advanced button to control the automatic reboot after restoration and the checking of disk error information After all settings are con rmed, click Next A summary is displayed Click Finish to start the restoration, and if you chose to repartition the disk, another dialog pops up, asking to con rm whether you want to wipe all the volumes on a disk and potentially lose data The restoration then commences with the progress shown After reboot, your computer is restored and should be good as new!
