Using Barcode creation for Visual Studio .NET Control to generate, create EAN / UCC - 13 image in Visual Studio .NET applications.
Currently, no in-place upgrade is supported from existing namespaces to the Windows Server 2008 mode DFSN At release time, you must either re-create a new DFSN and populate the links from scratch or delete the existing DFSN and re-create it Microsoft is working on a more automated solution Meanwhile, use dfsutil to export the namespace and then import it back again That would be much better than re-creating it from scratch For example, such a process would work as follows:

FRS provides the Sonar and Ultrasound troubleshooting tools DFSR doesn t have these tools Instead, DFSR has its own troubleshooting tool, dfsrdiag, in addition to integrated diagnostic reporting and event logging Initially, most people complain that replication doesn t start right away after you tell it to start The DFS servers poll AD every 60 minutes by default to nd out about any new replica groups they belong to and changes in con guration This means replication may not start for 60 minutes In addition, if the DFS servers are con gured to use their local domain controllers instead of the PDC Emulator domain controller, then the time for the changes of DFSR con guration to replicate through the AD is added to that 60 minutes The AD replication time depends on the sites where the replica members are located and the replication schedule between the sites Be patient initially, but remember that you can force a poll by using the dfsrdiag pollad command If your problem is not just that replication has not started, the next best place to go is the File Services area of Server Manager It provides a great summary of all the events that relate to the le services, including DFSR, as shown in Figure 15-34 This screen shows a summary of the number of errors, warnings, and information events; select each event to see the full details It is common for the Error and Warning event logs to give indications of the cause for the problems; the details there are good and normally can help you resolve the problems Make sure to look at both servers involved in replication for any errors or warnings Also shown in the Summary section is the status of the le services, including DFSR The next place to go if you are experiencing problems is the diagnostic report, which you can run for each replication group by selecting the replication group you are experiencing problems with and selecting Actions, Create Diagnostic Report This gives you two ways to diagnose problems The rst is to run a health report, which is generally the rst course of action, and the second is a two-phase propagation test, which tests the replication of data by placing a test le in the replica group, monitoring its

FIGURE 15-34 DFSR status information in Server Manager The next page of the Diagnostic Report Wizard requests which members of the replica group to include in the health report, as shown in Figure 15-35 By default, all members are included However, you can modify this by selecting members and clicking the Remove button The nal con guration is to select whether backlogged les (that is, les that have not replicated yet) should be calculated and whether a count of replicated les and their sizes should be performed (see Figure 15-35) Running the count takes a signi cant amount of time if a large number of les are present, so take care when selecting this option Finally, a summary of the options is displayed Click Create to begin the report generation process The report generation may take a signi cant amount of time, depending on the number of members in the replica set and the amount of data Microsoft recommends not running a report for more than 50 servers at a time
