One of the main ways to access RemoteApp is via TS Web (discussed in the next section), which makes things much easier because TS Web always has the latest list of applications and saves deployment problems However, you can also generate RDP les that clients can just execute, or create an msi le that contains the RDP and icon to enable the RDP RemoteApp shortcut to be deployed to clients via group policy or SCCM and placed on the desktop or in the Start menu It can even be associated with le types Creating an RDP is a basic option and is nothing more than the same RDP con guration you can con gure via the RDC with a program con gured You simply place some different settings in the RDP to make the application window seamless (for example, remoteapplicationmode:i:1 instead of the normal remoteapplicationmode:i:0) To create an RDP le, select an application from the RemoteApp Programs list and click the Create rdp File link in the Other Distribution options As usual, click Next at the welcome screen of the wizard The main package settings dialog, shown in Figure 9-48, uses the settings that are con gured as the defaults for the TS RemoteApp manager (which is why you changed them rst) You can change any of these settings for this speci c publishing, so modify as required and then click Next A summary is displayed, and when you click Finish, the RDP le is saved to the C:\Program Files\Packaged Programs directory by default That folder is opened so the RDP le can be seen Click the RDP le to execute it If it is not digitally signed, you receive a warning that the publisher is unknown You can ignore this and even check an option to not be asked again for connections to the computer You are then prompted for credentials to be used to communicate with the terminal server and, potentially, a TS Gateway server The application then launches, as shown in Figure 9-49, and then opens If you click the Details button, you can see the initial connection taking place, which is the user logon process, preparation of the desktop, and so on It is hidden when the application starts
