Bmon
Painting QR Code 2d Barcode In .NET
Using Barcode generation for ASP.NET Control to generate, create Quick Response Code image in ASP.NET applications.
Purpose: Interface statistics tool Author: Thomas Graf Internet site: http://trashnet/~reeler/bmon/ FreeBSD installation: Installed via /usr/ports/net/bmon Version demonstrated: 121 Bmon offers several different looks at interface statistics The first is a bandwidth overview for the fxp0 and ngeth0 interfaces (see Figure 81) We start Bmon with this syntax

Print Bar Code In Visual Studio .NET
Using Barcode creation for .NET Control to generate, create barcode image in VS .NET applications.
If you prefer a visual look at interface use, hit the g key This transitions Bmon to a curses -based graphical mode (see Figure 82) The top part of the screen shows traffic into the interface; the bottom shows traffic out of the interface Because ngeth0 is a monitoring interface that should not be transmitting traffic, we see nothing in the lower half of the screen Users can cycle through available interfaces by pressing the up and down arrow keys

Code 39 Creator In Java
Using Barcode printer for Java Control to generate, create ANSI/AIM Code 39 image in Java applications.
To see detailed statistics for monitored interfaces, press the d key Again, you can cycle through available interfaces with the up and down arrow keys In Figure 83, fxp0 is the management interface, so we expect to see traffic received (RX) and transmitted (TX)

Trafshow
Printing Bar Code In Java
Using Barcode drawer for Java Control to generate, create bar code image in Java applications.
Purpose: Interface statistics tool Author: Vladimir Vorovyev Internet site: http://softrispru/trafshow/index_enshtml FreeBSD installation: Installed via /usr/ports/net/trafshow Version demonstrated: 31 Trafshow is a terminal-based tool that gives analysts the ability to see live session data Trafshow presents source and destination IP addresses and ports It also displays the protocols in use (TCP, UDP, ICMP) and bytes of data seen on the monitored interface The far-right column depicts characters per second (CPS), a count of the number of bytes per second passing by Trafshow's author chose CPS rather than bytes per second (BPS) because BPS could be misinterpreted as "bits per second"
[3] [3]
Thanks to Vladimir Vorovyev and Ryan Thompson for their assistance with Trafshow
Run Trafshow against a single interface It will complain if that interface does not have an IP address If you run Trafshow against a monitoring interface that doesn't normally need an IP, assign a bogus one from the reserved RFC 1918 space like 192168200200 or 172303030 To get the output shown in Figure 84, I started Trafshow with the following simple syntax Notice that I ran it against the gigabit Ethernet interface em0 , and it had no problems seeing traffic The n switch tells Trafshow not to resolve host addresses and port numbers
trafshow -n -i em0

Trafshow is the best way to zero in on "top talkers" in a near-real-time fashion I have used it very effectively to immediately spot peer-to-peer activity or similar bandwidth hogs As sessions time out, they disappear from the Trafshow window On a busy network, Trafshow can display dozens, hundreds, or thousands of simultaneous sessions To limit Trafshow's field of vision, the program understands BPF syntax To ignore all Web traffic, for example, use this command
trafshow -n -i em0 not port 80 and not port 443 By default, Trafshow concentrates on layer 3 and above To force Trafshow to work at layer 2 (see Figure 85), start it with the switch

Purpose: Traffic-graphing tool Author: Kenjiro Cho Internet site: http://wwwcslsonycojp/person/kjc/kjc/softwarehtml FreeBSD installation: Installed via /usr/ports/net/ttt Version demonstrated: 18 Ttt (Tele traffic tapper) is a Tcl/Tk-based application that displays traffic by protocol and host every second It's the next step up in open source luxury for those who dislike the terminal, curses -based look of Bmon or the buzzing numbers of Trafshow
Tcl is the Tool Command Language, and Tk is an X-Windows interface toolkit They work together to create an open source scripting language well suited for graphical applications Visit http://wwwtcltk for more information
All of the previous tools displayed their results in a console window If you are logged in to the sensor console and have an X graphical environment, run Ttt as follows
ttt interface ngeth0 If you're not seated at the console running X, you'll have to forward a display back to your workstation using X forwarding through Secure Shell or an equivalent method Either way, a window like the one shown in Figure 88 will appear
