Figure 11-15 The UDDI Test Application The top text area shows the request message and the bottom one shows the response message
Decoding EAN / UCC - 13 In Visual Studio .NET
Using Barcode scanner for .NET Control to read, scan read, scan image in VS .NET applications.
To invoke an API, replace data placeholders in the request message with your own data and click on submit The result will show the response message in the response text area You can use this application to follow through the next sections as I explain the commonly used UDDI APIs
Encoding Bar Code In .NET
Using Barcode creation for .NET Control to generate, create barcode image in .NET applications.
Note: All the code in this chapter points to Microsoft s UDDI V2 registry at http://uddirtemicrosoftcom/inquire and https://uddirtemicrosoftcom/publish If at the time you read this, the Microsoft UDDI end point URLs have changed, you can simply modify these URLs in the code to point to the current ones I ve defined these URLs as constants in the code examples to make it easy for you to modify them For updates to this chapter s code, see the book s support site at http://wwwLearnXmlwscom/book
Bar Code Scanner In Visual Studio .NET
Using Barcode reader for .NET Control to read, scan read, scan image in VS .NET applications.
Querying UDDI
Create GS1 - 13 In VS .NET
Using Barcode creator for ASP.NET Control to generate, create UPC - 13 image in ASP.NET applications.
Instead of repeating the API reference information which is readily available in UDDI s API Specification, I will show you how to use the APIs to accomplish common tasks The examples in this section coupled with the UDDI learning aid explained above will have you writing your own UDDI applications in no time Finding a Business by Name The simplest UDDI search is finding a business by name This is a good starting example because it is simple and easy to learn Listing 11-10 shows example request and response messages without the SOAP Envelope and Body elements

Generating Bar Code In VS .NET
Using Barcode creation for VS .NET Control to generate, create bar code image in .NET framework applications.
<!-- find business by name request --> <find_business generic="20" maxRows="50" xmlns="urn:uddi-org:api_v2"> <name>LearnXmlWS</name> </find_business>
Creating Code39 In Visual Studio .NET
Using Barcode generation for VS .NET Control to generate, create Code 39 Extended image in VS .NET applications.
<!-- find business response --> <businessList generic="20" operator="Microsoft Corporation" truncated="false" xmlns="urn:uddiorg:api_v2"> <businessInfos> <businessInfo businessKey="677cfa1a-2717-4620-be39-6631bb74b6e1"> <name xml:lang="en">LearnXmlWS: The Resource for Web Service Developers</name> <description xml:lang="en">An online community for developers of Web services and Web service applications Read articles, download code, and ask questions pertaining to Web services Created by Yasser Shohoud</description> <serviceInfos> <serviceInfo serviceKey="d8091de4-0a4a-4061-9979-5d19131aece5" businessKey="677cfa1a-2717-4620-be39-6631bb74b6e1"> <name xml:lang="en">The Weather service</name> </serviceInfo> </serviceInfos> </businessInfo> </businessInfos> </businessList>
RM4SCC Maker In .NET Framework
Using Barcode generator for .NET Control to generate, create Royal Mail Barcode image in VS .NET applications.
The request message begins with the <find_business> element which contains a <name> element The default namespace, urn:uddi-org:api_v2, is the namespace used for all UDDI version 20 request and response messages The attribute named generic is used on all UDDI messages to indicate the UDDI version number Allowed values are 10 or 20 depending on which UDDI version you are querying maxRows is an optional attribute used to indicate the maximum number of businesses that should be returned The text content of <name> is the string you want to search for You can use the % sign as wild cards in

this string For example, %Corporation matches business entities whose names that end with Corporation By default, the string you specify is used to match the begining of the business name, not the entire name Therefore in this example, I only specified LearnXmlWS when the business name is LearnXmlWS: The Resource for Web Service Developers You can specify up to 5 names by repeating the <name> element The response message is a businessList message All response messages have an operator attribute containing the name of the operator that sent this response In addition, some response messages include a truncated attribute that is set to true if there were more results than those returned in the response message This could be useful if your search would return thousands of businesses but you specified maxRows=50 You would get back 50 businesses and truncated would be true businessInfos contains zero or more businessInfo structures each containing the businessKey, name, description, and a list of services for a particular business Each serviceInfo structure provides you with the serviceKey and the service name as well as the businessKey of the business to which this service belongs If you wanted to get more information about a particular service, you would then call get_serviceDetail passing it the serviceKey get_serviceDetail returns a complete businessService structure with all the service information Finding Businesses by Categories In addition to searching by name, you can also find businesses that belong to one or more categories The find_business API lets you specify a list of categories in a categoryBag structure By default, businesses that belong to all specified categories (logical AND) are returned You can also specify a findQualifiers structure to control how categories are searched For example, if you specify the combineCategoryBags findQualifier, the search will look for the specified categories in the businessEntity s categoryBag and in the categoryBag of each businessService within the businessEntity in effect combining business and service category bags for search purposes This might be handy if you are interested in businesses and services that has to do with a particular category, for example Educational Services
