In the common case where all or most of the marked-content sequences in a structure element s content are on the same page, the Pg entry identifying the page can be supplied in the structure element dictionary itself (see Table 910 on page 591), rather than in a separate marked-content reference for each sequence Often, this allows the marked-content reference to be dispensed with entirely and the sequence identi ed in the structure element s K entry by simply giving its integer marked-content identi er directly, as in Example 98 above
PDF Objects as Content Items
When a structure element s content includes an entire PDF object, such as an XObject or an annotation, that is associated with a page but not directly included in the page s content stream, the object is identi ed in the structure element s K entry by an object reference dictionary (see Table 912) Note that this form of reference is used only for entire objects; if the referenced content forms only part of the object s content stream, it is instead handled as a marked-content sequence, as described in the preceding section
