designing a form template, InfoPath creates data source nodes that are optional in the XML Schema (minOccurs is "0"; maxOccurs is "1") Just because a node is optional doesn t mean it can be removed or inserted when lling out the form To allow this behavior, the optional node must be bound to a control that can be inserted and deleted, such as Optional Section, Repeating Table, Repeating Section, (Repeating) Recursive Section, Horizontal Repeating Table, and Choice Section Enabling this otherwise dormant behavior adds the ability to set default data, among other custom options, that is speci c to the control but applies to the data Let s look at an Optional Section s properties dialog, for example, to see these features in action We ll rst look at the Edit Default Values button in the Section Properties dialog (Figure 446) This button is essentially similar to the Default Values item on the Tools menu However, when you open the Edit Default Values dialog by clicking the button in the properties dialog, the data source is scoped to the node to which this Optional Section is

bound, as shown in Figure 447 In this case, the Optional Section is bound to the group1 node Any changes you make to the scoped data source in Figure 447 will mirror to the main data source There really is no difference, but that s only because the rst of two option buttons is selected The rst option button is labeled To all occurrences of this section In English, this means that any default data you enter in this data source tree will exist as default data for the form as well as default data when this control is inserted That s right: There are two types of default data The default data inserted when a user inserts a control while lling out the form uses a predetermined XML fragment When you select the rst option button, the data in the fragment associated with this control is mirrored to the form default data and vice versa That is, with the rst option, any changes in default data under the group1 node will be used when a form is created and when a row is inserted This coupled nature of the form and fragment data (ie, the form and fragment data staying in sync) seems to be the default behavior that most users generally expect

XML Fragments
Printing Barcode In Visual Studio .NET
Using Barcode generation for ASP.NET Control to generate, create barcode image in ASP.NET applications.
An XML fragment refers to a subtree of a complete XML data source The fragment itself is still valid XML data, but it may not semantically make sense when it stands alone

Using Barcode drawer for ASP.NET Control to generate, create UCC - 12 image in ASP.NET applications.
The second option button, Only when the user inserts this section, may make sense despite the confusing terminology used on the rst option button When you select this option button, the setting applies to the data source fragment that is used only when this control is inserted This setting does not affect the form data used to create new blank forms Since the form data is now decoupled (or disassociated) from the fragment data, the default values used when creating a new blank form are different than when you insert the control Setting fragment default data for other insertable and deletable container controls is similar However, another dimension is added speci cally when working with XML fragments for Repeating Section controls There is no obvious entry point to the Edit Default Values dialog from the Repeating Section Properties dialog, as shown in Figure 448 Instead, this dialog allows
