Akmal B. Chaudhri is a Senior Architect with the Chief Technology Office at Informix Software. He has been working in the area of Object Databases both academically and commercially for nearly 10 years. He has been a regular presenter at a number of international conferences, such as OOPSLA and Object World. He has also co-edited the book Object Databases in Practice, Prentice-Hall, 1998. He holds a B.Sc. in Computing & Information Systems, an M.Sc. in Business Systems Analysis & Design and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. He likes to think that he is not an evangelist. Roberto Zicari is full professor of computer science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. Previously he was an associate professor at Politecnico di Milano, Italy; visiting scientist at IBM Almaden Research Center and UC Berkeley; visiting professor at EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) and National University of Mexico City. Professor Zicari is the editor-in-chief of Theory and Practice of Object Systems (John Wiley). He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of object database systems. He has consulted and lectured in Europe, North America and Japan. Roberto Zicari holds a doctor of engineering degree from Politrecnico di Milano.
