where the subscriber is registered acts as anchor MSC; all signalling with the UE is relayed via the E-interface, between the anchor MSC and the MSC the subscriber is currently connected to When a subscriber who is attached to one SGSN performs an RAU to another SGSN, the subscriber will detach from the one SGSN and attach to the other This process also includes the termination of the ongoing CAMEL service(s) for that subscriber and the re-initiation of the CAMEL service(s) from the new SGSN The rationale of this mechanism of deregistration at one SGSN followed by registration at the other SGSN is that a PDP context may have a long duration Keeping traf c interfaces and control interfaces occupied between two SGSNs for this purpose would be inef cient usage of network resources The inter-SGSN RAU procedure, including the CAMEL control, is represented in Figure 558 3GPP TS 23060 [81] describes the inter-SGSN RAU procedures, including the communication between the respective SGSNs and the GGSN When the subscriber performs a RAU from SGSN (1) to SGSN (2), SGSN (1) will terminate the CAMEL service for the active PDP context This service termination is done in the normal manner, meaning that the gprsSSF sends the pending charging reports and the PDP context disconnect noti cation (PDP context disconnect) The disconnect noti cation contains the routing area update parameter, which serves as indication that the disconnect results from inter-SGSN RAU This indication prompts the SCP to store relevant information related to this PDP context; the information will be needed when the control of this PDP context is resumed form the new CAMEL service When the SGSN (2) has resumed the handling of the PDP context, then this SGSN may invoke a CAMEL service for this PDP context The inter-SGSN RAU includes, amongst others, the transfer of the GPRS-CSI from HLR to SGSN (2) If GPRS-CSI for this subscriber contains TDP change of position context, then SGSN (2) invokes a CAMEL service for this PDP context This CAMEL service may resume the PDP context control Since this PDP context is not a newly established PDP context, but an existing PDP context, the CAMEL service may want to take cognizance of the history of this PDP context It may consider the duration of this CDR or the transferred volume; this is required when volume charging of the PDP context depends on the amount of data already transferred In addition, the new CAMEL service should normally not perform APN validation, since the validation was already performed at PDP context establishment, in SGSN (1)
